Acting reels 01/12/2010

One of the things that is so cool about being in our field is getting to work with creative and talented artists. Musicians and actors, telling their stories to the world. Being a part of the creative process gets us out of bed in the mornings. We especially enjoy working with actors, helping them communicate their passion to others. One of the ways we do this is through acting reels. Be sure to watch our latest piece, a powerful monologue written and performed by Hannah von der Hoff.

Tommy Stone Productions turns a year old! It all started on a snowy night with a short modeling video for Judith, who answered my ad on Craigslist. She was a great sport, a pleasure to work with and full of life. Stop by and see the fashion video that launched this crazy ride. Wild Child with Judith Islad.

After taking the Fall off to focus on music, we've decided to revisit our Too Late for Tears feature film. I (Tommy) am in the process of revamping the script, moving away from our initial idea of a "pin-up" femme fatale character to that of a vengeful one. We resume shooting with the New Year.

Badlands Shoot 06/03/2009

Even as I rewrite sections of the script, production of our first feature film Too Late for Tears is in full swing! Our first days of shooting begin next weekend, June 13-14th, in the Badlands National Park, South Dakota. We'll also be shooting scenes in Harley heaven, the town of Sturgis.

Rehearsals with the producer and lead actress, Hannah von der Hoff, have gone wonderfully and she is currently designing the look and feel of what will be a very unique - retro, vintage - wardrobe.

The story is a modern day retelling of an old film noir/femme fatale movie that is currently in the public domain. Although much of the heart of the story remains the same, I have added my own twist to certain plot lines and character development.

This film will be an ongoing summer endeavor, shot over multiple weekends. We are currently casting three supporting roles and will have a proper casting call in the weeks to come.

Stayed tuned here as well as on Hannah von der Hoff's website - launching next month - for the latest news, behind-the-scenes updates and pictures.

It's going to be a big summer for Tommy Stone Productions! This week I am scheduled to begin filming a short documentary for Grammy Award winning songwriter Dan Wilson. Best known as the lead singer for the band Semisonics (his most notable hits were "Closing Time" and "Secret Smile") and as the songwriter behind many of the Dixie Chick's hits such as "Not Ready to Make Nice," I will be collaborating with Dan on at least three different music related projects.

I am also currently planning a modeling video with Emmy Award winning model, actress and television host Kristen Aldridge, which I am very excited about. The concept is creative and will have a larger scale feel than some of my previous videos. I can't wait to get started; we should begin filming within the next few weeks.

An ongoing project this summer, and one that really gets me amped, is shooting my first feature film. I just finished writing the script this week, which is an adaptation of an old film noir, femme fatale film in the public domain called Too Late for Tears. This film will star musician, model and actress - and business partner - Hannah Vonn. She and I have been collaborating on quite a few projects; be sure to watch for the launch of her website, Myspace page and YouTube Channel, coming this summer as we continue shooting additional modeling and music videos together.

In addition to these projects, I am continuing to shoot behind-the-scenes footage for Twin Cities Statement Magazine, am shooting a few smaller modeling/acting videos, shooting a music video for a local band and am shooting and editing a 10-part training series on interpersonal communications for my dad.

Finally, this weekend I am finishing the script and beginning shooting a personal documentary about raising a child - my son - with Down syndrome called "Following Ian." It is scheduled to be released in early July; watch for news of the launch of the website later this week.
